Power & Water Requirements for Luxury Restroom Trailers: Your Complete Guide to a Seamless Setup
by Sadie Healy, Luxe Loo Cincy
Let’s talk about power and water — the two things no one thinks about until the day before the event, when suddenly everyone is scrambling around the venue with extension cords saying, “Does this look like the right plug?”
As someone who has planned events for over 15 years, I’ve learned that bathrooms are the one thing guests quietly judge and hosts deeply worry about… and both power and water determine how well your restroom trailer performs.
Whether you’re hosting a wedding in Cincinnati, a graduation in Dayton, a church festival in Kentucky, or a backyard party in Indiana, this guide will walk you through exactly what you need.
Let’s make this simple, stress-free, and “oh wow, that was easier than I expected.”
1. Why Power Matters More Than You Think
Luxury restroom trailers look elegant and effortless — but behind the scenes, they’re running:
Climate control (A/C or heat)
Lighting
Water pumps
Ventilation
Electrical systems
These things need stable, reliable power.
Here’s the good news:
Setting up power for your restroom trailer is straightforward once you know what’s required.
2. The Power Requirements (Broken Down by Season)
April – October (Spring, Summer, Early Fall)
You need:
One (1) dedicated 20-amp outlet
Within 100 ft of where the trailer will be placed.
“Dedicated” means nothing else should be using that outlet.
No DJ equipment, inflatables, food warmers, bounce houses, or margarita machines.
Your restroom needs its own line — I promise it’s worth it.
November – March (Late Fall & Winter)
For heated, cold-weather events, you need:
One (1) dedicated 50-amp outlet for the Grand 5-stall
Four (4) dedicated 20-amp outlets for the Petite 2-stall
Heat requires more power to keep your guests comfortable and prevent pipes from freezing.
3. Water Requirements (The Easy Part!)
Luxury restroom trailers typically need a water source to feed the fresh-water system.
Here’s what works:
Outdoor spigot
All we need from you is:
Where the water access point is
How far it is from the trailer placement
We provide the hose, connection, and setup.
No stress. No surprises.
4. What If Your Event Doesn’t Have Water Access?
No problem.
We can bring a filled onboard water tank to use during the event.
Just let us know before your estimate is finalized so we can size it properly.
This is a great option for:
Parks
Barns
Fields
Fairgrounds
Private land
Backyards being newly landscaped
Water is one of the easiest things to work around — as long as we know ahead of time!
5. Placement + Power + Water: The Shortcut Checklist
To make life easy, here’s the official Luxe Loo Placement Checklist:
✔ The ground is level
Grass, gravel, concrete, and asphalt are all fine — as long as it’s flat.
✔ The restrooms can reach power
20-amp or 50-amp outlet within 100 ft
(or generator arranged).
✔ The path is clear
Ours is a 100 ft extension cord — obstacles like fences, hedges, retaining walls, or garden beds must allow a straight run.
✔ There is water access (or you told us there isn’t)
We’ll prepare for whichever option applies.
✔ We discussed delivery access
We need a reasonably wide path to place the trailer safely. Our restrooms are on average 12 ft. tall so we also need to check for bridge height and low tree limbs!
