The 10 PM Call: What White Glove Restroom Rental Looks Like

This past weekend we were part of a beautiful wedding. The setup went exactly to plan. Then, late in the night, real life happened, and almost nobody there ever knew.

This is the story of that moment. It's also the best answer we have to a question we hear a lot: what does "white glove" restroom rental actually mean?

Before the wedding: everything went right

We went over every detail ahead of time. We did a handful of complimentary site visits. On delivery day, we used our trailer dolly to move the restroom into the exact spot the client had picked.

10 PM: the phone rings

Real life happens at events. Late in the evening, someone accidentally caused a small overflow in one of the restrooms. The wedding planner called us immediately.

That call was possible because every client gets our real cell phone numbers. Not a dispatch line. Not a voicemail box somebody checks on Monday. And when a client calls at 10 PM on a Saturday, we answer.

We talked the planner through turning off the water, step by step. Then we double checked everything else together to make sure nothing more was going on. The problem was contained over the phone.

Then we got in the car

Stopping the water was step one. We weren't going to leave a wedding planner with a wet floor and a line about to form. So we drove over.

We mopped up the extra water and spruced the restroom back up. We finished with 10 minutes to spare before the end-of-night rush, when everyone makes one last stop before heading home.

The planner never picked up a mop. The guests never knew there was a problem.

Why we're telling you this

Nothing was wrong with our restroom that night. This was human error, the kind that can happen at any event, in any restroom. You can't plan for everything a guest or vendor might do.

What you can plan for is who picks up the phone when it happens. Here are three questions worth asking any restroom vendor before you book:

  1. Who do I call during my event, and is it a real person's cell phone?

  2. Will someone answer at 10 PM on a Saturday?

  3. If something goes wrong, will you come back out?

Our answers: us, yes, and yes.
